David Tate Marler, 72, a resident of Riceville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.

He attended Charleston First Baptist Church. He enjoyed “fishing and more fishing,” and loved going to flea markets. He always loved spending time with his family and animals.

He was retired from Advanced Photographic Solutions.

He was the son of the late Robert Tate Marler and Maggie Lucille Hall Marler.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Stewart Marler, of Riceville; six sons: Ricky Rogers and wife, Lisa, and Mike Rogers and wife, Tammy, all of Cleveland, David Tate Marler Jr. of San Francisco, Jerry Lee Marler and wife, Sylvia, of Cleveland, Dennis Johnson and wife, Maylena, of Riceville and Jacob T. Marler of Riceville; one daughter, Dena Myers and husband, Brandon, of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Phillips and husband, Ernie, of Cleveland; one brother, Ronald Marler and wife, Linda, of Cleveland; and several other family members.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Harrol Millsaps officiating.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
