He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Lavare; his first wife Margaret Lavare; brothers: Lyle, Kenneth and Glenford Lavare; sisters: Irene Mott and Helen Lavare.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired as a textile worker in Dalton.
He attended Cedar Valley Church of God in Dalton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Lavare of Dalton; five stepchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Earle and Joyce Clark; and his brothers: Charles, Clyteus, Howard and Alfred Lavare, all of New York.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Clayton Brown officiating. Casket bearers will be Steve Bates, Donnie Bates, Anthony Bates, Judd Bates, Blake Bates and Jack Craig.
