Bradley Central High School’s DramaCentral will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Rumors,” Thursday through Saturday in Bradley Central’s new Fine Arts Center. All shows are at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.

The show runs about 1 hour, 45 minutes and showcases the senior actors of DramaCentral. “Rumors” is the fast-paced and hilarious work of legendary playwright Neil Simon (“The Odd Couple,” “Barefoot in the Park” and “The Goodbye Girl”).

The story takes place in a large, tasteful townhouse where the deputy mayor of New York, Charlie Brock, has just shot himself in the earlobe, and his wife, Myra, is nowhere to be found.

The four well-connected couples gathering for their wedding anniversary soon experience a severe attack of farce. As their incoherent host lies bleeding in the next room, his lawyer, Ken, and wife Chris must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive.

As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity. Director Lindsey Smith said, “There hasn’t been one rehearsal that I haven’t had tears of laughter rolling down my face. This graduating class hand-in-hand helped me rebuild the drama program at Bradley four years ago. I don’t think we could’ve handled a drama with all the endings right now. It’s great to have comic relief.”

“Rumors” is directed by BCHS Theater Arts teacher Lindsey Smith and is performed by newly graduated seniors and recent “Westside Story” actors Haley Bishop (Chris), Josh Brock (Glenn), Cody Glover (Ken), and Kourtney Tager (Claire). Rumors also features the rising talent of DramaCentral including underclassmen Jacob Ball (Officer Welch), Kristy Gaddis (Cookie), Robbie Goins (Lenny), Taylor Jones (Ernie), Karina Radionova (Cassie) and Alex Smith (Officer Pudney). Tickets are available at the door or by calling 423-476-0650.
