SIGNAL MOUNTAIN — Debbie Durham, who was tied for the lead after the first round, carded a second round 81 for a two-day total of 157 in the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.

That was enough for Durham to hang on to the lead for a second day. Not far behind Durham are defending champion Maggie Scott and 2009 champion Georgia McCravey, both with two-day totals of 160, three shots back.

The course played longer and tougher for the championship field Tuesday, and the scores reflected the changes to the course. Scores were on the rise as the temperature fell throughout the afternoon on top of the mountain.

Play started today for the final round with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. After round three, the 2011 Women’s Senior Amateur Champion will be crowned at Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club.
