Edgar Frankie Jones, 66, a resident of Old Fort, passed away in a Chattanooga hospital on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012.

He was a lifelong member of the Benton-Polk County area. He was born on Feb. 11, 1946, in Benton, a son of the late James and Audie Jones.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army from which he received the Marksman Award. After leaving the Army, he worked for and later retired from TVA in 1996.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Jones.

Edgar leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters: Sonya Branam (Jerry L.) and Margaret Jones, both of Charleston; one son, Scott Jones, also of the Charleston; two sisters, Patricia Womac and Gail Stiles; two brothers: Charles “Junior” Jones and Doug Jones; three grandchildren: Matthew Branam, Amber Nicole Jones and April Nicole Jones; three great-grandchildren: Landon Davis, Skylar Davis, and Lola Davis; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church located at 920 Welcome Valley Road, Benton TN 37307, with the Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Junior Gaskill, Charles Thurman, Allen Smith, Chris Stephens, Keith Stephens and Harry Mullenix serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday night, Oct. 29, at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
