Edna Leise Christie, 88, a resident of Cleveland, died on Saturday night, April 26, 2014, at her home.
She was born in New York City, N.Y, on April 7, 1926, a daughter of the late Leo and Edna G. Leise.
She relocated to Cleveland three years ago to be with her son from Kissimmee, Fla.
She volunteered at Give Kids the World and had a love and passion for gardening which she used in being active in the memorial gardens at both St. Luke’s and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Duncan A. Christie; one daughter, April Carroll; two sisters, Lillian Staniszewski and Dorothy Gupton and three brothers: Fred Leise, Leo Leise and Bill Leise.
She is survived by her son, Skip Christie; and her adopted son, Jimm Coffin; her special kitty “Boots”; several nieces, nephews, several other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A visitation in which the family will receive friends will be on Tuesday night, April 29, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 320 Broad St., Cleveland, with Father Joel Huffstetler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the memorial gardens at either St. Luke’s or St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Edna’s memory.
