Edna Spurgeon, 78, a resident of McDonald, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2012, in a Chattanooga health care facility.
She was a member of the Old Fashion Gospel Tabernacle. She was retired from McKee Baking with more than 27 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Wesley Spurgeon; and a son, Danny Spurgeon.
She is survived by her children: Lisa Nichols and Sherry Young, both of McDonald, Donna Giovengo of Joliet, Ill., Cathy Howard, Janice Spurgeon, Dana Sherlin and Lloyd Spurgeon, all of Cleveland, Larry Spurgeon of Sweetwater, and Gary Spurgeon of Cleveland; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Peggy Denton of Englewood, Shirley Kesley of Ooltewah and Betty Richmond of Alabama; one brother, Gene Nation of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Ronnie Kelsey and Warren Denton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ooltewah Cemetery with Daniel Rowland, Jeremy Young, Kevin Spurgeon, Lloyd Spurgeon, Timmy Spurgeon and Kenneth Rowland serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
