Eleanor Burger Guffey, 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014.
She was born Dec. 11, 1936, to the late William and Mary Burger.
She had lived in the Cleveland area for most of her life and was a member of South Cleveland Church of God.
She worked at Life Bridges with special needs individuals, whom she cared for dearly, for more than 10 years. Above all things, however, she loved and cared for her family. This was her main priority and joy in life, as she was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by three sisters: Geraldine Couch, Ruth Baker and Irene Lay; one brother, Kenneth Burger.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of seven years, Ernest “Jack” Longwith; three sons: Donnie Wear and his wife, Elaine, Barry Wear and Joe Guffey and his wife, Kelly; five grandchildren: Ray Wear (Roslyn), Brittney Davis (Chad), Cayci Freeman (Eric), Jennifer Kimball, and Jessica Wolfenden (Blake); eight great-grandchildren: Jake Wear, Ella Ray Wear, Julia Dip, Noah Dip, Eli Wolfenden, Braxton Davis, Ellsa Wolfenden, and Andrew Davis; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members and friends.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at South Cleveland Church of God, 1846 Volunteer Drive with Pastor Kenneth Bowers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Inurnment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Life Bridges, 764 Old Chattanooga Pike SW.
