Elizabeth Liggett Simpson of Cleveland passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
She was born on April 2, 1922, in Marshall County.
She was a beloved teacher at Bradley Central High School for 30 years and an active member of First United Methodist Church.
She spent her life caring for family and friends, always putting others before herself. She was an angel on earth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Eugene Simpson.
Survivors include her two daughters: Ann Simpson Wilson of Cleveland and Mary Jean Jewell of Nashville; one son, Clay Simpson of Atlanta; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Louise Wherry of Wichita, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. Her family are thankful to Lilly (Missy) Cox and Fay Maines for the excellent care they provided.
Th funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tim Paul and Tom Seay officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
Her family will receive friends on today, from 6 to 8 p.m., at First United Methodist Church.
