No doubt, 76 years ago, in a little town in Mississippi, folks gave little thought to the new baby boy born named, Elvis Aaron Presley.

However, today, mention that name and it is recognized all over the world. Even more than thirty years after the news of the death of Elvis Presley, mention of his name garners attention.

Elvis tribute artist Matt Cordell will be performing at the Gem Theater in Etowah on Sat rday and Sunday.

Cordell sounds like Elvis, has a look somewhat like Elvis at age 38, and has a personality that everyone loves.

He has competed in many Elvis Tribute shows across the country and sung with the groups that backed Elvis himself. This past year, he took home another National first-place win as well as fourth-place World Elvis Tribute Artist, both chosen by the Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Etowah is bringing Cordell for a very special event to commemorate Elvis Presley’s 76th birthday on Saturday. On Sunday at 2 p.m., he will again perform at the Gem Theater in Etowah. The Saturday show is at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the Etowah Carnegie Library on Ohio Avenue, located just behind the Gem Theater.

All general seat tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

The following businesses have general advance tickets for Saturday and Sunday shows:

Etowah – Southern Heritage Antique Mall and Etowah Chamber of Commerce; Athens – Madison Square Antiques Mall (directly across from the front steps of McMinn Co. Court House); Cleveland – Relics Antiques (located just off I-75, exit 25, 1 block off Hwy 60 to Candies Lane); Ocoee – First Volunteer Branch Bank (Hwy 64 East); and Benton – First Volunteer Bank (Main Office).

Both concerts are sponsored by Etowah Merchants & Friends Association and the Etowah Parks & Recreation, along with several area co-sponsors.
