Emma Kirby Stanley, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 28, 2012, in a Chattanooga health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Mary Ethel Keyt Kirby and Milburn Lee Kirby. Her grandson, Talon Alexander Johnson also preceded her in death.

She was a bookkeeper most of her life and worked for several years at the Church of God Publishing House and she retired from the business office at Lee University with over 36 years of service. She handled the Federal Funding for students at Lee. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed music and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Hopewell Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Stanley of Cleveland; her daughters: Carmen LaVonna Crick and her husband Robert of Cumming, Ga., Jennifer Leigh Davis and her husband Jeremy and Tamara Lynn Stanley, all of Cleveland; her sons: Terry Kenneth Johnson of Cleveland, Clinton James “Clint” Stanley and his wife Erica of Trenton, Ga., David Anthony Stanley and his wife Sylvia of Parker, Colo.; her 13 grandchildren; her 3 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Mary Stone and her husband Kenneth of Etowah, Tenn., Treva Sharpe and her husband Mike of Apopka, Fla., Judy Kirby of Norcross, Ga., Eva Maynard of East Ridge, Ruth Light of Chattanooga, Pauline Lemons of East Ridge; her brothers: Melvin Kirby of Sparta, Tenn., David Kirby and his wife Linda of Chattanooga; her special friend and caregiver, Gladys Sherlin and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Monday afternoon, Dec. 31,2012 at 2 from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Jerry Millwood and Dr. Jerry Daffe officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p. m. today, Dec. 30, 2012, at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
