Before retiring to take care of her husband she worked for more than 40 years in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Painter, and Mr. and Mrs. William Watson.
She was a special person, everyone loved being around her. She was a talker on her love for sports. If she wasn’t watching sports on television she was listening to it on the radio. She called herself a “sports nut.”
She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Arie” was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaine Swan Blair; sons, Vastin M. Blair and John Franklin Cisco; grandsons, Corey Blair and Joshua Ammon Blair; father and mother, Ernest and Beulah Porter; four sisters: Mary Juanita Locke, Eva Mae Keith, Patricia Arnold, and Annette Porter (Big Bink) and Clarence Porter (Sonnyboy); and nephew, Ricky Arnold.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters: Una Octavia (Alphonso) Pugh of Cleveland, Sandra E. Dixon of LaFayette, Ga., and Pandora E. Westfield of Wyoming; four sons: William Stanley (Florence) Blair of Nashville, Floyd Winston Blair of Clarksville, Edward Lee (Vicky) Blair and Richard Swan Blair, both of Cleveland; one sister, Ollie Collier of Athens; and one brother, Glenn Howard Porter of Athens; grandchildren: Lesia McCruter, Carolyn (Ronald) French, Carla Blair of Nashville, Kerry (Angela) Blair of Elizabethan, Anthony Dyshawn Ware, Swann Parker, Corey Moore, DeAnna (Jason) Brooks, Cori Pugh, Alphonso Pugh, Kushema Pugh, Yeshemna (Aristole) Huffman, Terria Goodine, Carma Blair, Michael (Cindi) Kirkpatrick, all of Cleveland, Cicely Smith of Atlanta, Theron (Misty) Blair of Cleveland, Natosha Blair of Summerville, Ga.; great-grandchildren: Jasia and Arie Brooks, Brianna Moore, Davin Moore, Keniya Blair, Michael Kirpatrick, Kaden Moore, Quantavia Cobb, and Ariyah Huffman, of Cleveland, Jadden Pugh, Ernest Johnson, Shronda Johnson, Sherrell Batey and Keith French, all of Nashvile, Keshawn and Aliyah Pugh of Chattanooga; Tycorrian Blair of Summerville, Ga.; special nieces: Linda Avilla and Brenda Ware; special children in her life: Vicky Painter, Beth Robinson, Barrett (Ellen) Painter and William Watson; special friend of family, Debra Blair; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Shiloh Baptist Church with pastor the Rev. Alfred Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cleveland.
Visitation by friends will begin after noon Saturday in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home.
