Brianna Daugherty, student at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and special guest of the Flint Springs FCE Club, provided the entertainment with a number of songs.
Phyllis Narus, Bradley County 2010 FCE Council president and a member of the Prospectors FCE, presented the recognitions and awards.
The Council’s 2010 officers included Narus (Prospectors), president; Barbara Peterson (Mouse Creek), vice president; Linda Brown (Taylors), secretary; Joan Bryson (Taylors), treasurer; and Jo Ann Wrinkle (Wildwood), immediate past president.
The 2010 FCE Club presidents included Pat Turner (Flint Springs), Crystal Rymer (Inquirers), Peterson (Mouse Creek), Cyndi Tinsley (Prospectors), Oleta Ownby (Taylors) and Jean Cross (Wildwood).
Kaye Smith, extension agent and FCE adviser, introduced the special guests.
The annual auction was held to provide funds for area 4-H programs. The Flint Springs FCE members provided leadership for the auction.
Cross, Brenda Park and Narus were recognized for serving as members of the TAFCE Alumni.
FCE members who received the Certified Volunteer Unit recognition for completion of 500 hours of Community Service within a three-year period included Peterson (Mouse Creek), Cross (Wildwood) and Wrinkle (Wildwood).
Eastern Region Cultural Arts winners included Park (Prospectors) with a first place in Weaving and Narus (Prospectors), second place in Weaving. Park also received first place at the state FCE competition in Weaving.
The FCE Members recognized for participation in the FCE Reading Program included Ruby Ball (Taylors) for reading 158 books in 2010. Others in the program included Flow Mintey (Wildwood) with 139 books read and Betty Morrow (Flint Springs), 40 books.
Other readers included Dot Eslinger (Flint Springs FCE), Cathy Besing (Taylors), April Besing (Taylors), Park (Prospectors), Cathy Shreve (Prospectors), Dorothy Casteel (Mouse Creek) and Carol Farley (Mouse Creek). A related project, the Books for Newborns, is a major community service project of Bradley County FCE members.
The FCE Participation Program is a record of the FCE activities and programs that members participated in throughout the past year. The Wildwood FCE members who were recognized for the FCE Participation Program included Cross (41 points), Wrinkle (34), Mintey (26), and Jane Smith.
Taylors FCE members recognized in the FCE Participation Program included Mary Bagley (25 points), Brenda Carder (23), Bennie Jenkins (23), Oleta Ownby (22), Pauline Cartwright (21), Ball (20) and Mary Ann Cornelius (20). Others recognized included Swanola McKeehan, Jean Hamm, Doreen Johnson, Cathy Besing, Mary Ann Tidwell, Virgie Toomey and Ila Henderson.
Prospectors FCE Club members recognized in the FCE Participation Program included Narus (37), Shreve (28), and Park (24). Other recognized included Ann Gray, Tinsley and Patti Bradshaw. Mouse Creek FCE members receiving recognition included Peterson with 21 points, Farley and Casteel.
Members recognized for the Bring-A-Buddy Program included Flint Springs FCE members Jeri Ervin and Dot Eslinger, and Inquirers FCE members Susan Lackey, Ann McCoin, Virginia Orr, Gail Pesterfield, Peggy Pesterfield, Patricia Pierce and Marcia St. John.
Other members recognized included Mouse Creek FCE members: Peterson, Casteel and Carol McClellan. Prospectors FCE members recognized included Shreve and Park. Taylors FCE members recognized for the Bring A Buddy Program included Sherrie Duvall, Mary Bagley, Henderson and Ownby. This program recognizes FCE members who “Bring a Buddy” or recruit new members for the FCE Clubs.
Clubs with added responsibility for the awards program included the Flint Springs FCE Club who arranged for the entertainment, decorated for the event and assisted with the auction. The Taylors FCE Club members assisted with the meal service.
