According to ESPN.com my bracket stands at 54.9 percent correct, which doesn’t seem all that impressive really. I suppose my beginner’s luck could only hold up for so long.
I must admit that my previously mentioned highly scientific and studied methods seem to have failed me, as I’m sitting here staring at a bracket that only contains one of the actual Final Four teams in it.
I had Louisville, Gonzaga, Indiana, and Georgetown chosen to make it to April 7. Sad story, right?
Yep, I only have Louisville remaining, which happens to be the team that I picked to go all the way.
After Kevin Ware’s horrific, traumatizing, and almost vomit-inducing leg injury I would like to think that the Cardinals will go all the way. It’s only right that they win it all, they’ve got to do it for their injured teammate!
Now Louisville must take on Wichita State, which booted my Final Four choice Gonzaga. Clearly this won’t be an easy task, but I imagine the Cardinals will come out on top in that contest.
Syracuse, which defeated another of my picks for the Final Four (aka Indiana — way to blow it, Hoosiers) is taking on the University of Michigan, or U of M as we refer to it in the Mitten.
As someone who was born and raised in Michigan I would just like to go on record and say that I absolutely HATE the Wolverines! My list of reasons for hating U of M is far too expansive to get into during this column though, so I will just drop it.
I mean, they’re so snobby that they can’t even admit the fact that their colors are blue and yellow. No, Michigan had to go and call it “maize,” aka the color of corn, which is usually yellow.
Sorry, I kind of went off on a tangent there ...
Anyway, I’m still sitting here amazed that Florida Gulf Coast beat Georgetown. By 10 points. Holy cow, who would’ve seen that one coming?
Due to the fact that my bracket is now practically nonexistent I think it’s time that I make my choices for who goes to the championship game.
Like I said, I’m still sticking by my original choice of Louisville. That’s just a no-brainer, really.
Now Syracuse and U of M, that could be a more interesting decision to make.
My Wolverine loathing self would love to see Syracuse wipe the floor with some maize and blue, but honestly I have no clue how these teams would even match up to begin with.
Now we come to another one of Saralyn’s methods for bracket choosing: flip a coin.
Heads, Syracuse. Tails, Michigan. Best two out of three. (I promise you, I really did sit at my desk and flip a coin for this, too!)
That means I’m going with Michigan to make it to the championship game.
So there you have it, my choice for Monday’s game is Louisville versus Michigan and clearly Louisville will win it all.
Maybe I will even make the effort to actually watch the championship this year!
