Lee University and Tennessee Wesleyan College each scored on their first two shots before settling in for a 2-2 tie in a men’s soccer match Friday evening at the Lee Soccer Field.

Pedro Alba put the visiting Bulldogs (1-1-2) on the board first after collecting an assist from Danny Smith in the eighth minute.

Four minutes later, Sias Reyneke headed home a Sebastian Vallejo cross into the box to pull the Flames (3-1-1) even.

In the 20th minute, Alba would play a part to put Tennessee Wesleyan ahead again. This time he assisted Luke Winter on the long goal that was placed just below the crossbar.

Josh Ball and Luke Cuthbert would combine to record the second equalizer in the 22nd minute as Ball headed Cuthbert’s cross past the TWC keeper.

Tom Halsall set a new and longer trend in the 25th minute with a sprawling save. After four straight shots finding the back of the net, the final 27 shots were harmless.

Halsall finished the 110 minute match with two goals allowed and two saves. His opposition, Clark Lydon, recorded five saves to counter two goals allowed.

Lee fired 20 shots with seven of them on goal, while Tennessee Wesleyan put four of its 11 shots on frame.

The Flames will get back into action this coming Tuesday when they host Bryan College. The non-conference matchup is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
