Florence Elizabeth Williams Moore, 84, of Cleveland and formerly of Riceville,passed away peacefully Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2012, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Levi Harrison and Anna Belle King Williams. She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, John and Elizabeth Shelton King; her husband of 53 years, John Wesley Moore; daughter, Deborah Moore Aly; brother, Walter Williams; son-in-law, Cecil L. Morgan; and several aunts and uncles she was raised with who were like sisters and brothers to her.
She lived with and was being taken care of by her daughter, Gertrude Anna Morgan. She loved to quilt and was well known for her quilt making, and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church No. 2.
Survivors include two daughters and three sons-in-law: Gertrude Anna Morgan of Cleveland, Helen Marie and Dewight Charles of Decatur and Jacky Aly of Etowah; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary Lee and Dee Moore of Riceville and Tracey Lynn and Teresa Moore of Fayetteville, Ga.; 11 grandchildren: Bruce Morgan and his wife, Brittany, Olivia Lawson and her husband, Craig, Sandy Womac and her husband, Gregg, Tony Charles and his wife, Lisa, Holly Roe and her husband, Jason, Travis Moore and his wife, Amanda, Brandon Moore, Sarah Wilmot and her husband, Steven, Joshua Aly, Hannah Moore and Nathaniel Moore; 11 great-grandchildren: Hayden Morgan, Micah Byrd, Emily Lawson, Gage Lawson, Bridget Moon, Cody Withrow, Tiffany Charles, Madison Roe, Grayson Roe, Lawson Roe, and Madline Wilmot; step brother, Emmett Williams of Niota; brother-in-law, David Moore and his wife, Maxine, of Blairsville, Ga.; and a lot of cousins and friends.
The family expresses appreciation to Amedysis Hospice and Senior Care Home Assistance Service.
The funeral will be held at 7 this evening in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Garry King and Jason Roe officiating.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
