Former Tennessee state wrestling champion Travis Creagan is returning to the Cleveland area Friday along with former UTC wrestling star and current Mocs assistant coach John Sioredas to host the Stampede Wrestling Camp at Walker Valley High School.

"We've got two good clinicians coming in. Travis is the all-time wins leader for Bradley and he will be working with our main clinician, John Sioredas," said camp director and on-site coach Andy Morris.

Morris will also be assisted by former local wrestling stars Quantal Langford, former Southern Conference champion at UTC and former assistant coach at Campbellsville University. Langford will add his expertise along with Dustin Ledford, another Bradley Central outstanding wrestler who is a two-time Tennessee state champion.

"We have a great staff of on-site coaches. We are fortunate to have such quality coaches to help us out and lend their skills," Morris said.

Sioredas, an NCAA All-American at UTC in 2005 arrived on campus after leaving his assistant’s job at Old Dominion where he was on staff for six years.

"He is also head of the Grandby School of Wrestling camps which is a very prestigious camp system throughout the United States. He is their main clinician," said Morris. "I am excited to have him here. He is going to teach some really good things. He is an outstanding wrestler. His wrestling history speaks for itself, but he is an even better coach and clinician."

While wrestling for the Bears, Creagan was a three-time state finalist and was third as a 125-pound freshman. Creagan won two state championships as a 140-pound sophomore and junior. Creagan ended his high school career as runner up at 160 pounds.

The June 29-30 clinics will focus on fundamentals and wrestling technique and will not involve a great deal of live and intense wrestling, according to Morris.

"We will probably have a little bit of live wrestling, but we are focusing more on instruction and the technique side of things," he said.

Stampede is an open club geared to any wrestler in the Bradley, Polk McMinn and Hamilton County area and is designed to give wrestlers the opportunity to gain offseason experience. Morris said the clinic is open to any wrestler from third grade and up with wrestling experience.

"There will be a high level of technique demonstrated as well as basic technique," he said.
