Frances Joanne Waldroup, 72, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, in a local hospital.
She was born in Polk County on Feb. 9, 1942, to the late George Washington and Leola Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Edward Martin, Marvin Martin, Ray Martin and Donald Martin.
She loved gardening, bird watching especially hummingbirds, her family and was known for her chocolate pies.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jack Waldroup; two sons: Lat Waldroup (Elizabeth) and Timothy Clee Waldroup; two daughters: Kathy Waldroup and Bonnie Yates (Jimmy); two brothers: Billy Martin (Betty) and Ronald Martin (Sue); six grandchildren: Jeremy Waldroup, Cory Yates, Joshua Waldroup, Katelyn Miller, Jacob Morozko and Heather Sardina; seven great-grandchildren: Macie Waldroup, Maggie Waldroup, Makenlee Waldroup, Makayla Yates, Morgan Yates, Landon Miller and Eli Waldroup.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Conasauga River Baptist Church, Hwy 411 S-Conasauga Church Rd in Conasauga with the Revs. Jackie Martin and Blaine Phillips officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the church and at 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment will follow in the Conasauga River Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Dewight Waldroup, Bart Waldroup, Cory Yates, Joshua Waldroup, Eddie Martin and Ryan Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Morozko, Jeremy Waldroup and Joseph Sardina.
