Free computer classes offered beginning May 2

The library has gotten in some new non-fiction DVDs which should be of interest to many of our patrons.

All non-fiction DVDs can be checked out for five days. Some of the new DVDs are: “Living through Personal Crisis;” “Divorce — Guiding You Through the Process;” “College Inc.,” “Amazing War Machines;” “Waiting for Superman;” “I do — Wedding Planner;” “Let’s Speak American;” “BiLingual Baby Language Video — Spanish;” “Algebra;” “Discovery’s Into the Universe;” Smithsonian’s “How the Earth Was Made;” Jack Hanna’s “Animal Adventures” and “Visiting Disney World.” Come in and check out our new supply. All new DVDs are marked with a new sticker on the cover to help you locate them.

Computer classes for the month of May are:

Basic computer: May 2 and 3, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; May 11 and 12, 3 to 5 p.m.

Basic Email: May 9 and 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; May 25 and 26, 3 to 5 p.m.

Basic Excel: May 16, 17, 18 and 19, 6 to 8 p.m.

Basic Internet: May 4 and 5, 3 to 5 p.m.

Basic Power Point: May 19 and 26, 6 to 8 p.m.

Using Windows: May 23 and 24, 3 to 5 p.m.

Basic Word: May 5 and 12, 6 to 8 p.m.; May 31 and June 1, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All classes require a refundable $5 deposit before a reservation can be accepted for a class. Deposits are refunded at the first class session. No reservations are accepted on the telephone. The classes are free and open to all with a valid library card. Reservations can be made at the Non-fiction or Reference Desks on the second floor of the library during regular hours.

Movie Night at the library is showing “Swiss Family Robinson” on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Take the family to this movie from a classic book shown in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room.

CaBA, the coffee and business advice group, will be meeting on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room to help those beginning a franchise or small business network with others. This group is a joint effort of the library along with the Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland State Community College: Tennessee Small Business Development Center and FranNet of Alabama and East Tennessee.
