This is a special week in which garden clubs’ activities are featured.
Garden clubs across America will participate in events such as educational exhibits, flower shows, lectures, programs, garden tours, special plantings and floral designs being placed in public buildings.
National Garden Week was first celebrated with Arbor Day on April 22, the birthday of J. Sterling Morton, in Nebraska.
The date was changed in 1983 o the first full week in June.
Garden clubs work toward worthy goals locally and across the state and nation.
Gardening provides challenging and rewarding activities which improve lives, encourage respect and protection of the environment and provide beauty and fragrance in the world.
