She was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland, and later became a member at Mount Eagle Baptist Church in Charleston, where she was on the usher board and became a knowledgeable student of the Disciple Sunday school class under Pastor Alonzo Noble.
She was a 1972 graduate of Bradley High School, and obtained her certified nursing assistant’s credentials allowing her to work for many years at Bradley Nursing Home and Royal Health Care and as a caregiver for several families in the Bradley county area. She was also employed for several years at Prudential Security in Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys King Parker; and one brother, Elijah ‘Buster’ Westfield.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Paul George of Charleston; father, Lester Westfield of Cleveland; four sisters: Shirley (Warren) Batts, Debra Smith, and Dewanna Westfield, all of Cleveland and Jennifer Westfield of Atlanta; godchildren: Letitia Smith, and Demetrice Smith, both of Cleveland and the Rev. Alonzo and Linda Noble of Chattanooga; aunts: Ophelia Ball, Elizabeth Green, Francis Arnold and Louvenia Thompson, all of Cleveland, Linda Constant of Chattanooga and Grace (Sherman) McCleary of Charleston; stepchildren: Aaron George, Anthony George, Adanya George and John Brown, all of Cleveland, Angelique Brown of Dallas and Alicia Green of Virginia Beach, Va.; special cousin, Kenneth Mee of Chattanooga and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at noon Friday, March 29, 2013, at Mount Eagle Baptist Church in Charleston with pastor, the Rev. Alonzo Noble officiating.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service, 11:30 a.m. to noon.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation by friends will begin after 1 p.m. today at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home.
