Gerald E. “Jerry” Williams, 58, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was educated as an engineer but suffered a car accident at the age of 24 that left him a paraplegic. In spite of his disabilities he lived a full life and was loved by many.
He was the son of the late, Eugene E. Williams and Jessie Marie Tommie Dill Williams.
He is survived by his brother, Doug Williams and wife, Karen, of Old Fort; nieces: Kristie McLain and husband, Roy, of Benton, Sandra Godsey and husband, Chris, of Cleveland, and Angie O’Berry of Old Fort; nephews: Tommy O’Berry of Cohutta, Ga., Jeremiah O’Berry and wife, Laura, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; great-nieces: Heather, Madeline, Summer; great-nephews: Gage, Daniel and Ethan; and several aunts and cousins, including special aunt, Ruth Ann Shannon.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating.
Interment will follow in Dill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family extend appreciation to all the caregivers who provided care for Gerald over the years.
