The Rev. Gilbert “Gibby” Conner, 54, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, in a Dalton, Ga., health care facility.

He was the son of the late Andrew and Madeline Ledford Conner.

He was the past pastor of Old Fashion House of Prayer in Calhoun and was a member of the God’s Way Quartet. He was a preacher and singer ministering around this area for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Conner; son, Jessie Conner; brother, Windom Conner and his wife, Rose, of Cleveland; mother and father-in-law, Jessie and Ollie Mae Sanders; brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Wanda Sanders; sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and William Russell, all of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Cohutta Hills Community Church in Cohutta with the Revs. Rob Works, Sammy Randolph and Junior Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 8 at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes, and also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.
