She was the daughter of the late Edna Green Brock and John Brock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James Sampson; son, Danny Sampson; granddaughter, Katie Trew; sisters: Verlie Lea and Mamie Dunn; and brother, Oscar “Bud” Brock.
She enjoyed word finder puzzles and crossword puzzles. She loved reading her Bible. She was a member of Shady Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Betty Porter, Wilma Hawkins and Patsy Trew, and her husband, Paul, all of Cleveland; her son, David Sampson and his wife, Darlene, of Riceville; her grandchildren: Tera Miller and her husband, Scot, Pam Elliott and her husband, Rob, Julie Dempsey and her husband, Tim, Bobby James Porter and his wife, Kristy, Marvin Trew and his wife, Gwen; her great-grandchildren: Cody Miller, Chandler Miller, Megan Burger and her husband, Justin, Brandon Bowen, Victor Porter, Nikola Porter, Micah Trew and Tammy Trew; her great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Burger; sister, Jennie Morris of Cleveland; brothers: Glen Brock of Georgia and Thomas Brock of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Eddie Trentham officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Marvin Trew, Scot Miller, Rob Miller, Cody Miller, Bobby Porter, Brandon Bowen and Chandler Miller serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
