Great Pumpkin Chase planned for Oct. 26

Runners and walkers should line up for the start of the Great Pumpkin Chase 5K and one-mile walk by 9 a.m. on Oct. 26 on the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway near the old First Tennessee Bank building at 775 Raider Dr.

Proceeds of the second Great Pumpkin Chase support social programs of the 40 & 8 veterans organization. All preregistered runners will receive a T-shirt. Late entrants will receive T-shirts while supplies last. Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female winners. Awards will be given to the first three places in each age group.

The 40 & 8 offers nursing scholarships at Cleveland State Community College and scholarships to dependents of men and women classified as Missing In Action or as a Prisoner of War. The organization supports veterans assistance programs, youth sports and child welfare initiatives such as its annual winter coat drive.
