VALLEY VIEW ELEMENTARY students, from left, Caleb Austin, Kendra Lupo, Zachery Roberson and Shelby Longwell, recently participated in the first National Green Apple Day of Service, celebrating schools that are participating in "green" projects. Students painted murals to go above recycling bins for paper, cardboard, plastics and aluminum. Classrooms competed for who was going to paint the murals and our BEST Partner, Downtown Design Studio PLCC, helped complete the murals. The recycling bins come from the Coca-Cola Refreshments School Recycling Program. Kindergarteners learned about growing food from the earth as they picked and ate watermelons planted by last year's kindergarten class.
