“My father, Jim Rush, has been servicing the families of Cleveland and Bradley County for 50 years,” Greg said. “He has decided to relinquish his duties in the daily operations of the funeral homes. He is still at the funeral homes every day, offering assistance on funerals and greeting families.”
Greg has worked with his father 30 of the 50 years Jim has been in the funeral home business.
“In order for my dad to relinquish his responsibilities of the everyday operations, he transferred ownership to me and my [business] partner, Richard Tetrick,” Greg said.
Tetrick is a friend of the family and a licensed funeral director in Tennessee. He currently owns six funeral homes in Upper East Tennessee. The two gained dual ownership in late December 2012.
Everyday operations will remain the same, according to Greg Rush.
“We are absolutely home-owned and operated,” Greg said.
There are currently two Jim Rush Funeral Home locations in Cleveland. One is on North Ocoee Street and the other is on Wildwood Avenue. Jim Rush has been in the funeral home business since 1963.
Jim Rush has given his son his blessing.
"It was a dream come true for me when my son Greg decided to follow in my footsteps at our funeral home,” Jim said. “I have worked beside my son for over 30 years and I am proud to relinquish the everyday operations to him.”
Jim added, “Greg and his partner Richard Tetrick will make this transition very smooth.”
He also pointed out, “With Greg's ownership of the funeral home, the Rush family tradition of providing the families of our community with service they deserve will certainly continue."
