H.L. “Larry” Smith, 88, a resident of Cleveland passed away on Thursday Jan. 5, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Harry-Walter and Olive-Virginia Smith. He has been a resident of this area for approximately 62 years. He is a member of Temple Baptist Church.

He accomplished much in his lifetime. He was a gifted artist, graduated with a music degree in piano performance, and when in England was a member of the British Army who helped guard Queen Elizabeth’s Castle. He will be most loved and remembered for being a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Coffman.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 27 years, Jean; daughters: Sheilla Reavis, Treasa Horton and husband, Bufie, Beverly Sioutis and husband, Bill, and Martha Gibson; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
