Scheduled for Tri-State Exhibition Center, the collection will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. It is open to anyone in Bradley County and will be accepting many forms of household hazardous waste.
“This is such an important event for the community, and it would not be possible without the county government picking up the tab,” said Joanne Maskew, executive director of the local KAB board.
The collection will cost somewhere between $40,000 and $50,000, according to the board’s minutes from their February meeting.
Other upcoming events highlighted by the board include “It’s All about the Green” at Cleveland State Community College, and a scheduled Greenway cleanup.
“It’s All about the Green” will take place April 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the community college. According to Maskew 15 to 20 vendors will be present at the event, and KAB is still seeking volunteers to help set up and provide aid at the booths.
The Greenway cleanup is set for April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The board also welcomed new member Adam Lowe, and discussed plans to replace two other members, Kyle Hinch and Susan Shelton, who are now unable to participate in the board due to schedule conflicts.
The Neighborhood Committee awarded the March Business Beautification Award to the Cleveland Country Club, and the Business and Industry Committee announced that May’s “White Glove” award will be given to Cleveland State Community College for its landscaping and recycling efforts.
Members of the board also raised concerns about possible yard sale violations occurring throughout the city. The board agreed to research the local zoning laws regarding yard sales and the possibility of reporting those violating those laws.
