Helping Hands Food Drive sponsored by the National Junior Beta Club at Black Fox Elementary collected about 1,900 nonperishable food items for a local food bank. The donated items filled two pick-up truck beds with food for local families. A kind gentlemen loading the food into his truck stated, "Thank you again. This will help many families in need this Christmas." Beta Club thanks parents, grandparents, students and teachers for their contributions. Beta Club members were a significant part of the planning and implementation of the food drive. The "muscle-men" did a wonderful job gathering items from classrooms and our "accountants" made sure our totals were accurate while the "advertising committee" made lovely signs for the school hallway. Truly it was all worthwhile - giving to others became a teaching tool for club members and a character lesson for our students., according to Pam Coleman, Beta Club sponsor.
