Scottie Lee Higgins, 19, is charged on an active warrant from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, according to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for BCSO.
Officials have been investigating a rash of recent thefts and vandalisms which heavy equipment was the target.
Steve Williams reported someone had taken batteries and cables from four pieces of machinery. The missing batteries and cables were valued at $2,400.
“Property Crimes detectives have an active warrant charging Higgins with theft over $1,000. It was issued after he became a suspect in an investigation involving the recent thefts of batteries from businesses and heavy-duty construction equipment,” Gault noted.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and other nearby law enforcement agencies have ongoing investigations of thefts involving numerous vehicle batteries.
Higgins is described as being 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He is medium build and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Gault said investigators believe Higgins is staying in the Birchwood community of Meigs County.

The reward for Higgins’ arrest will be determined by the level of assistance given in locating and arresting the alleged suspect, according to Gault.
– Cleveland Fire Department investigator Lt. Ben Atchley determined a residential fire which was reported on Beatty Road last week was “accidental” in nature.
According to Atchley, the residents of the structure were in the process of moving and left for a short time then returned to find it filled with smoke.
A bedroom was affected, according to earlier reports.
Atchley said during his investigation he learned one of the residents had used a lamp to look under the bed in the bedroom.
The lamp had overturned causing the fire, according to Atchley.
Damage to the structure and contents was estimated at $5,500.
