Hobbs to present trumpet recital at Lee University

Lee University’s David Hobbs will perform a trumpet recital Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Recital Hall located in Lee’s Humanities Center.

The recital will include pieces such as “Concertino” by Paul Vidal, “Sonata for Trumpet” by Jean Hubeau and “Fantasie en Mib” by J.Ed. Barat.

Hobbs has been an adjunct professor of trumpet at Lee since 2009. He is also on the faculty of Cumberland University and is Principal Trumpet of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to the CSO, Hobbs has performed with the Nashville Symphony, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony, the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Huntsville Symphony and others. Hobbs also performed as cornet soloist with the Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band and has appeared as a soloist with the New Orleans Philharmonic, a result of winning the Louisiana Young Artist Competition.

Hobbs has earned degrees from Louisiana State University and Middle Tennessee State University.

The recital is free of charge and open to the public.
