Homer Harris, 91 a resident of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in a local hospital.
He was the son of the late Willie and Margaret Harris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Cofer Harris.
He founded Orbit Oil Co. in 1969 and prior to that owned and operated Harris Service station.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in World War II, and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid quail hunter and loved to fish.
Survivors include his children: Fritz Harris, Will Harris, and Donnie Harris, all of Cleveland, and Marcia Harris of Franklin; grandchildren: Joey, Jenny, Denver, Avery, Melissa, Namath, Cameron, Allena, Allissa, Andrew and Paxton; brothers: Alvin and Marvin Harris, both of Cleveland; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. David Evans officiating.
Interment will be in the Cofer Cemetery with Avery McNeese, Namath, Cameron, Andrew and Denver Harris, Jerry Mohabir and Charlie McKenzie serving as casketbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
