Howard Thompson has announced his candidacy for 4th District Bradley County Commission seat, subject to the Republican primary May 6.

“I want to be a voice for the people of the 4th District — Taylor, Oak Grove, Michigan Avenue and Park View school area,” Thompson said.

Thompson served for 16 and half years as the commissioner for the district.

He said he decided to return to the Commission because “I’ve had hundreds of people ask me to.

“There is work that I need to do to help the people. I try to work for the people,” he said.

Thompson explained that “sometimes you have to be in a post to help someone.”

He said people know that he is willing to help them in any way possible.

He noted he always has gotten along with elected officials.

Thompson and his wife, Debbie, have three daughters, one son, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He attends Kinser Church of God.
