For the second straight year, Lee University senior Anna Hrushka is an NAIA Indoor Track All-American.
Taking part in the annual NAIA event in Geneva, Ohio this past weekend, Hrushka placed sixth (5:01.81) in the mile run. She had qualified the day before by running 5:01.39 (school record).
Both of these times were improvements from her best previous time of 5:08 during the indoor season, “but we knew that she was ready to run well,” said coach Don Jayroe. “Anna is our only distance runner that has earned All-American honors. She will now prepare for the outdoor season. We plan is to step the training up a notch so that her mile will go in the 4:50 - 4:52 range. She is talented enough to make it happen.”
The other national meet qualifiers were Caleb Morgan, Mike Walker, and Maggie Opelt. Opelt ran a season best in the 5000 meter run of 17:57.74. Walker ran a strong race in the 3000 meter run of 8:52.34. Morgan was 4:32 in his mile. See results on naia.org
Lee’s next meet will be at Emory on March 18-19.
