Bradley County Fire-Rescue investigators are looking into the cause of a fire which occurred Sunday while Bradley County Sheriff’s Office detectives investigate the cause of a death which was reported at the home last week.

Hairle Preston Hayes’ body was found Thanksgiving Day.

Hayes was 57 years old, according to investigators.

“Preliminary reports are not complete but the cause of his death is expected to be medical related,” according to investigators.

911 reports indicated Hayes’ body was found just after 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day when a neighbor had taken him some food.

The 911 report also noted a “lot of blood” inside the house.

On Sunday, Bradley County firefighters responded to the scene on Baker Bridge Road just after 4 a.m. The mobile home where Hayes had lived was engulfed in flames, according to reports from BCFR.

BCFR Fire and Arson investigator Donnie Sullivan along with commanders Don Tankersley and Jeff Stewart went Monday to the scene of the fire which is in the northeastern corner of Bradley County near the Polk County line.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation and there is a possibility it was arson,” Tankersley said.

The mobile home was totally destroyed and no one was inside at the time of the fire, officials stated.
