Entertainer Ivo Monroe Miller recently announced the release of his latest, most intimate CD yet, titled “Little Girl.” The award-winning musician who covers a variety of genres is featuring 11 original songs plus one special selection, calling it “sacred.”

Miller, a former Cleveland resident, said the cover ballad, “Little Girl,” is a heartfelt song composed for his granddaughter. The song was composed the year she was born in 1999. Miller said he feels “the time is right to release the song here in 2014,” adding, the song is a tender lullaby inspired while holding his granddaughter as a baby.

According to Miller, fans may be surprised by the diversity of the music on this CD — “from jazz to blues to Latin to romantic ballads to sacred. The CD ends with 'Sweet Hour of Prayer' and we know I didn’t write that song, but it is one of my favorites,” he said. “The timing of the release is simply that it’s 2014, and 14 years seems long enough to procrastinate. The songs are personal, reflective, loving and tender.”

The Millers spent most of the 1990s in Chattanooga where Ivo entertained at The Renaissance Commons and The Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. His wife, Lori, helped develop Chattanooga CARES: AIDS Resource Center.

Having left East Tennessee in 1999 to move to Hawaii, Miller, his wife and their son Jordan now live on the island of Kauai, “The Garden Island,” where movie classics like “King Kong,” “Jurassic Park,” “South Pacific,” and “Miss Sadie Thompson” (starring Rita Hayworth) were filmed.

For almost a decade, Lori has served as executive director for Kauai Hospice, the island’s only hospice. Miller said, “The song ‘To Guide Us Along The Way’ is dedicated to my wife, Lori. The other songs all have a special genre of mood, romance and love. This CD is primarily a compilation of my original works. Most of them were composed in 2000 after relocating to Hawaii.

In 2009 and 2010, Miller won in the professional category of the Kauai Mokihana Festival’s songwriting contest with his original song, “Tropical Lovin” and “Come to the Islands.” The versatile musician performs three times a week for three hours straight at Lemongrass Grill in Kauai.

The Millers have been living in the Hawaiian islands for 15 years now. They attend Kapaa First Hawaiian Church where he is the pianist. They also return to Cleveland at least once a year to visit family and eat at Jordan’s BBQ — owned by Lori’s brother, Dennis Jordan. To family and friends in the Cleveland area, the Millers said, “Mahalo nui loa!” — Thank you very much!
