The ladies of Junior Auxiliary are busy preparing for the 10th anniversary of the Teddy Bear Picnic to be held Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Bradley County Library. This free family event is open to all preschool- through elementary-age children.

They are asked to bring their favorite teddy bear or Lovie decorated in a special way for a chance to be crowned “Mr. and Miss Teddy Bear Picnic.”

The families will rotate through various stations including face painting, tattoos, take home crafts, storyteller, cookie decorating, coloring, play-dough and story time.

A free, quality book will be given to the first 300 registered children. A free printed picture with the teddy bear and free brunch snack wil be given to the first 250 participants.

Plus, everyone can enter to win a door prize.

With this being the 10th anniversary, JA purchased a new teddy bear mascot but it needs a name, explained Becca Brnik, the event’s co-chairman.

Junior Auxiliary is asking the community’s children to submit suggestions up until midnight Monday. They can enter as many times as they wish and suggestions can be emailed to nameourjabear@gmail.com or on the Facebook page titled Junior Auxiliary of Cleveland.

Winner will be announced later that week.

“Please join the fun and help name our bear,” Brnik said.
