Jacqueline Althea Sharp, 60, of Newark, Ohio, passed away suddenly at SkyRidge Medical Center on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013.

She was born in Cleveland to the late Anna Lemmie Cummings (James) Priest and William Jack (Beatrice) Sharp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepparents; her grandparents: William and Magnolia Sharp and Ralph and Neomi (Swafford-Cummings) Williams; her sister, Deborah L. Sharp King; her brother, Ralph "Stink" Cummings; and her daughter, Melissa Cummings.

Althea, as she was affectionately known, as a child grew up in Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she became a member.

She was employed by Duracell Battery Company for many, many years before moving to Philadelphia, where she worked for various companies in the customer service field. She also lived briefly in Macon, Ga., before moving to Ohio to be near her children.

She was a very loving, kind and joyful person, always carrying a smile on her face. With her jolly and outgoing personality, she never met a stranger. She enjoyed life, she loved making others laugh, and she loved having fun. Many of her activities include bowling, dancing, singing, bingo and shopping. She was a generous donor/supporter of St. Jude Hospital and the March of Dimes after her granddaughter was born premature.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Yolanda Cummings; son, LeAndré Sharp; loving granddaughter, Harper Cummings, all of Patasklala, Ohio; sisters: Vanessa Sharp of Cleveland and Teri (Bobbie) Evans of St. Paul, Minn.; brothers: William Stanford Sharp of Chattanooga, Ronnie Eugene Sharp, Zachary (Cassandra) Sharp and Clarence (Brenda) Lawrence, all of Cleveland; her uncle, John Wesley Sharp Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and several special and devoted friends.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by many.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 799 Inman Street N.E., the Rev. Edward S. Robinson, pastor.

The Rev. Rhonda S. Westfield will be the eulogist. The Rev. Martha Tibbs will be assisting.
