James L. “Jimmy” McCulley, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, in a local health care facility.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was a world traveler, but loved the United States the best. He was retired from Dupont.

He was the son of the late James T. McCulley and Lillie Ballard McCulley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Allen McCulley; and his sister, Dorothy Higgins.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Houston of Chesterfield, Va.; close and special friend, Sharon Lynn Puckett of Cleveland and her daughter, Jeanne Griffith and husband, Tim, of Cleveland; Sharon’s son, Bob Puckett of Cleveland; grandchildren by choice: Jacob Griffith, Jaclyn Griffith, Keelie Puckett and Cade Puckett; one brother, Gene McCulley and wife, Ruby, of Cleveland; one sister, Shirley Bailey of Greenville, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Ron Puckett officiating.

Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release concluding the service.

The visitation will be from 4 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
