James W. “Jim” Dixon, 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday morning, April 16, 2012, at the family residence.

He was the son of the late Cynthia Beard Dixon and Edward Dixon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Dixon; and his brother, George Dixon.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served in the Korean conflict.

He was co/owner and operator of Dixon Body Shop for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and was a member of the Waterville Park Golf Course. He was also a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church where he served as deacon for more than 50 years!

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joy Dixon, of Cleveland; daughters: Patty Rogers of Cleveland, and Debbie Rodgers and her husband, Chris, of Mount Juliet; son, Jamie Dixon of Cleveland; grandchildren: Jason Rogers of Smyrna, Josh Rogers and his wife, Julie, of Moore, S.C., Shelley Rodgers Brown and her husband, Jeff, Kristi Rodgers Link and her husband, Jeff, all of Mount Juliet, and Audrea Goff, Corey Dixon and Sean Dixon, all of Cleveland; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris Goza and her husband, Wayland, Honey Climer and her husband, Lake, Reba Howell and her husband, Kenneth, Mickey Wooten and her husband, Chester, Audrey Dixon and Sandra Gray and her husband, Larry, all of Cleveland; brothers: Nig Dixon and his wife, Eva, and Wayne Dixon, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, from Michigan Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Victor Hayes and Josh Rogers officiating.

Interment will follow in the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church Cemetery with deacons of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.
