Jean Robinson Sain was born May 25, 1928, in Boone, N.C., the fourth of 12 children born to Will Robinson and Sarah Ella Goodman Robinson. Her family moved to Calhoun when she was a child and after several years, her father moved the family to Deckard, where she met her husband, Brown Sain. The Sains later moved back to the Cleveland area where he worked at Bowater Paper Mill and as a welding instructor at Bradley Central High School. He served, also, as pastor of several local Baptist churches with his wife always by his side. They were happily married for 65 years before Brown passed away in 2011. She has one daughter, Judy Kirkpatrick, one grandson, Matthew Kirkpatrick, and a very special great-granddaughter, Mariah Kirkpatrick. The octogenarian will celebrate her 85th birthday on Saturday at Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited through this Banner announcement to drop by between 1 and 3 p.m. to give her best wishes.
