Jimmy Lee Kersey, 62, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday morning, May 30, 2011, at the residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Kersey; and his sister, Ruth Ann Burchfield.

He was employed with Whirlpool with more than 44 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing, building houses, working on cars and working in his vegetable garden. He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila “Connie” Kersey, of Cleveland; daughter, DeAnna Teague and her husband, Brian; son, Darren Lee Kersey and his wife, Jada, all of Cleveland; granddaughters: Gracilyn, Hayley, Whitney, Paige and Heather; mother, Eva Guy Kersey; sisters: Nancy Tate and her husband, Roy, and Willadean Elsjy; brother, Randall Dwight Kersey, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Daniel White officiating.

Interment will follow in the Earls Cemetery with Brian Ballew, Tim Ballew, Brandon Richmond, Shawn Tate, Michael Tate, Chris Roberts, Gary Richmond and Jeremiah Kersey serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be given.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
