JoAn Green, 79, a resident of Old Fort has gone to be an angel in heaven. She passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She loved gardening, flowers, being with her family and helping others; she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. Her family asked not to grieve her death but to remember her beautiful smile and all the joy she has brought into everyone’s life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Maggie Harris; sister, Louise Ratcliff; and grandsons: Brad and Adam Green and Jonathan Pike.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Bill Green, of Old Fort; children: Billy Green and wife, Margaret, Tim Green and wife, Shannon, Tony Green and Sandie Green; grandchildren: Brandy Calton and husband, Kenneth, Dustan Green and wife, Jennifer, Cody Green, Amber Green, Carmen Burgess and husband, Kevin, Brandon Green and wife, Jade, and Storm Green; and great-grandchildren: Kolbie, Kallie, Braden, Austin, Tanner, Landon, Tayvin, Lauren, Kolten and Karter.
A graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Boanerges Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating.
Dustan Green, Brandon Green, Cody Green, Kolbie Calton, Kevin Burgess and Kenneth Calton will serve as pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at Fike Funeral Home.
