JoAnn Higgins Jones, 75, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday Nov. 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Leonard Higgins and Della Parris Higgins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jones; son, Danny Jones; and a daughter, Barbara Jones.
She was a very giving person and a very loving mother and grandmother. She loved to watch golf on television, was a longtime employee at Burlington Woolen Mills until it closed and was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Laney and her husband, Steve, of Madisonville; grandchildren: Chris Widener and his wife, Tiffany, Courtney Payne, Marcus Jones and his wife, Lana and Michael Jones, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Miah Widener, Rylin Widener, Kayleigh Jones, Kynlee Jones and Kyson Fairfield; four brothers: the Rev. Ray Higgins and his wife, Jetty, the Rev. Gary Higgins and his wife, Pam, Roy Higgins and his wife, Becky, all of Cleveland, Gene Higgins and his wife, Brenda, of Nashville; two sisters: Alice Vaughn and her husband, the Rev. James Vaughn and Louise Cabrera and her husband, Jeff, all of Cleveland; her best friend, Chassie Norman of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Covenant Baptist Church with the Rev. James Vaughn officiating.
Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jerry Mason, Mark Cabrera, Ricky Vaughn, Keifer Ashba, Jake Moats, Keegan Cabrera and Andrew Harrold serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery Cabrera, Ricky Musgrove and Steve Laney.
The body will be at the church for viewing from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
