He was born in Mecklenburg County, he retired as a machinist from Lance Inc. after 30 years and was a World War II veteran, having served three years in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith Baucom Wilson; sons: Wayne (Jan) Wilson of Cleveland, Gene Wilson of Mint Hill and Jim Wilson of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and one daughter, Linda Rivenbark of Mint Hill; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Golden Acre Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held today, Oct. 22, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Charlotte NC 28227.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill NC 28227.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
