He was the son of the late Joe and Lula Hawkins.
He was a member of The Goodwill Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a proud World War II veteran. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired from the Olin Corp. with more 20 years of service and prior to that he worked at the old Hardwick foundry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emma Hawkins; their children and spouses: Judy and Paul Elliot of Hartsgrove Ohio, Cathy and Bobby Mantooth and Paul and Yvonda Hawkins, all of Cleveland; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Gatha Humbard of Cleveland; brother, Clifford Hawkins of Chatsworth Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Wildwood Ave chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Larry Humbard officiating.
Interment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
