John H. “Big John” Cross, 69, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Louella Parris Cross Howard and Johnny Frances Cross. His sister Myra “Ruby” Pendley also preceded her in death.
“Big John,” as he was affectionately called, was a self-employed mechanic most of his life. He could work on any type of engine from auto to generators! He loved being outdoors and he especially loved camping with his family and friends. He attended the Church of God.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy Cross, of Cleveland; his beloved and only son, Jeffrey Cross and his wife, Denise; his treasured and cherished only granddaughter, Jennifer Cross Teague, and her husband, Jamison; his brothers: Jerry Cross and his wife, Mary Jane, Lonnie Cross and Terry Cross; his sisters, Mary McCall and Phyllis Black, and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Steve Sherlin and Grady Simpson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Beta Cemetery in Meigs County with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
