Joseph R. “Joe” Ledford, 79, of Delano, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.

He was retired from Combustion Engineering, where he was a truck driver. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Delano Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Blanche O’Kelly Ledford; son, Michael Ledford; grandson, Michael Christopher Brown; father-in-law, H.B. Jenkins; and nephews, Larry Jenkins and Travis Jenkins.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jenkins Ledford; daughter, Ginger Brown and husband, Chris; two special grandchildren: Stephen and Ashli Brown; mother-in-law, Genora Jenkins, brothers-in-law: Larry Jenkins and wife, Darla, and Bobby Jenkins and wife, Sula; sisters-in-law: Gloria Johnson and husband, Bobby, and Vickie Bryan and husband, Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Delano Baptist Church with the Rev. John Powers officiating.

Interment will follow in Delano Cemetery with military honors.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 this evening at Higgins Funeral Home and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
