Joseph Louis Powers, 74, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at a hospital in Athens.
He was the son of the Pearl and Bee Powell.
He was retired from Bradley Memorial Hospital after being employed there more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Benjamin and Robert Powers.
Survivors include two daughters, Tanya Powers of Cleveland and Tracie Powers of Cincinnati; three sons: Terrell Aktins of Cleveland, Tony Powers of Lafayette, Ind., and Jarvis Powers of Buffalo, N.Y., and “like a son” nephew, Robert L. (LaKedra) Pitner of Cleveland; nephew Ronald Pitner of South Carolina; and many other special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland, with Bishop William Simpson officiating.
Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
Visitation by friends will begin after noon Sunday at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home.
